Sam's first companions letter home the first week they are together

From Elder Best mom...want to remember this sweet tender mercy of hearing that our son is still happy and funny!

I LOVED reading your son's letter!!  I learned a lot more than I do from my own son.  Here is his letter from this week, in its entirety: "My son (comp) is such a good missionary!

We get along super well, and he is out here for the right reasons! He still doesnt speak spanish, but i know he will learn fast. He makes me laugh so much! seriously the funiest kid i have ever met! I love having my comp as one of my best friends! the work is so much easier. D&C 123: last verse talk about doing ALL things with good cheer! haha is spanish is says we have to be excited, or we wont have success haha.

This week we have found a lot of new investagators! we found like 4 more familys to teach! and they are so prepared to hear the gospel! This week we are getting some more people married! im really excited.

WEll, i really dont got mch to say this week... i promise itll be longer next week! love you all!

Week 7 First Area

well what a week haha I'm really tired and my legs are really tired but i absolutely love it haha we wasted no time getting to work and I'm so glad so this is what i wrote in my journal the 1st night
April 14th
my companions name is Elder Best hes the best companion/PaPa haha hes American hes from Orem Utah hes really cool he has been out on his mission for 9 months and his espanol is perfect so the 1st day we went to a church and there was like 50 missionaries and we all just stood there and then our companions would come they already new the name of there new companion and elder best took like forever he was the last one to get there and i was very impatient and nervous but when i met him i was happy haha then we did like some training all day then at like 2 o clock me and my companion got on a bus then took a taxi then got on the metro and then we finally got to our area and we got to our house and we dropped my bags off and went to a investigators house and taught all night long then i unpacked at like 9 in my 1st lesson my companion asked me to give a blessing to a girl that was sick in the family haha i did alot of it in English but its okay I'm still struggling with the language but its okay it will come my companion talks most of the time in the lessons then i bare my testimony our house is really nice it already feels like home I'm so tired every night so i sleep really good we have a nice shower it doesn't have a lot of pressure but its nice i like my house alot i thought the 1st day was going to go by slow but it went by really fast so it wasn't that bad
April 15 i wrote today was my second day in the field we had like 7 appointments set up for the day but only 2 people were home so we taught them and then we talked to lots of people on the street people are really friendly here most of them we got like 5 peoples names and numbers but who knows if there follow through and really want us to teach them my companion is a really good dude he speaks espanol to me all day except for 30 min at night he talks English so that's rough i can already tell I'm going to love my mission i love working hard its a good feeling i have so far to go before I'm totally converted to god and to this gospel but for right now i know this church is true with all my heart and i am ready to work really hard
April 16th i met my district leader hes really cool his name is elder Mathew him and his companion are super sick and they work hard i have really good examples of hard working obedient missionaries so I'm really grateful for that i just hope that my companion is patient with me with the espanol
April 17th i wrote
today was rough i thought i was going to have to do splits with another missionary but then he got sick so IMO glad that i don't have to do that because my espanol is bad its really hard to not be tired when your a missionary during our lessons i keep feeling like i should talk and say stuff but every time i do the investigators don't know what I'm saying haha but its okay i just need to work harder
April 18th i wrote missionary work is hard no one knows why its so hard until they are a missionary its exhausting on you mind and body but is such a joyful experience i love working hard and feeling like i did something good today even if its just little you can always do something successful that's going to help someone in the future

overall it was a very good first week and i know theres going to be harder weeks ahead and I'm excited bring it on because that's what makes us better people i miss you all alot and i know that its just going to get harder i hope you all our so happy and you remember to always strive to be a better person and to love Christ with all you might

yo se que este iglesia is verderero yo se que jesucristo es amoroso
i love this gospel with all my heart and i love all you so much
